INTERREG GR-BG 2014-2020
Business Councils for the promotion of Entrepreneurship
Two organizations from Bulgaria and Greece focused on achieving a sustainable business environment in the Greece-Bulgaria border region, funded by the Interreg V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 Programme, concentrate their joint efforts in the implementation of the Business council project. The main objective of the project is the establishment of business councils in Bulgaria and Greece, covering 7 priority sectors ( Agro-food industry, Waste management for recycling or energy, Renewable energy and energy saving, Sustainable tourism, Health, Materials – Technology, Textile industry). A Business Council is foreseen for each priority sector in the Greek and Bulgarian regions of Evros, Xanthi, Rhodopes, Drama, Kavala, Thessaloniki, Haskovo, Kardjali, Smolyan and Blagoevgrad.
The main role of each business council is to recruit representatives of SMEs, sectoral organisations, chambers of commerce and industry, local government and municipal and regional administration representatives and entrepreneurs in each of the priority sectors to impact on sectoral issues through the actions of the council, to support business activities and to exchange experiences with their counterparts in Greece. Connectivity between business representatives from each of the priority industries and local government representatives will be achieved through this project, allowing them to discuss the problems and challenges faced by business and to debate best practices as well as the know – how on common problems and constraints.
As part of the project activities, an online platform will be created which will contain specialised information for businesses in Greece and Bulgaria. The platform will publish content related to the work of the business councils, the activities they carry out as well as documentation of their activities. The main task of the platform is to ensure digitalization and transparency of the work of the councils in Bulgaria and Greece.
