“Greening the Walls of Kozani” : Νέο έργο δράσεων αστικού βελονισμού σε συνεργασία με το Δήμο Κοζάνης

Η 1η Σεπτεμβρίου σηματοδοτεί την έναρξη ενός νέου έργου για την JOIN4CS σε συνεργασία με το Δήμο Κοζάνης με τίτλο “GREENING THE WALLS” -Πρασινίζοντας και αναβαθμίζοντας σημεία της πόλης με κάθετους κήπους (living walls) με χρήση ανακυκλώσιμων υλικών και με την ενεργή συμμετοχή των πολιτών.

Το έργο υλοποιείται στο πλαίσιο της πρόσκλησης «Καινοτόμες Δράσεις με τους Πολίτες» του χρηματοδοτικού προγράμματος του Πράσινου Ταμείου «Φυσικό Περιβάλλον & Κλιματική Ανθεκτικότητα 2025».

Το ‘Greening the walls’ προσπαθεί να “πρασινίσει” και να συνδέσει την πόλη της Κοζάνης με τον βιομηχανικό χαρακτήρα της περιοχής και τη διαδικασία μετάβασης από τον παραδοσιακό παραγωγό ενέργειας, τον λιγνίτη, στην πράσινη ανάπτυξη. Παράλληλα θα αναζωογονήσει τα σημεία της πόλης που θα εφαρμοστεί, δίνοντας μία φρέσκια πνοή προσθέτοντας το πράσινο στοιχείο στην πόλη που το έχει ανάγκη.

Για να επιτευχθεί αυτό, το έργο θα χρησιμοποιήσει πρώην βιομηχανικά υλικά και πλαστικά απορρίμματα και θα τα μετατρέψει σε “ζωντανούς τοίχους” (living walls), όπου τα φυτά θα ενσωματωθούν στο σύνολο του σχεδιασμού. Το έργο συνδέεται άμεσα με το προηγούμενο βραβευμένο έργο “Greenovate” του New European Bauhaus (NEB), όπου μέρος των υλικών χρησιμοποιήθηκε για τη δημιουργία αστικού εξοπλισμού (γλάστρες και παγκάκια) άλλα θα ομοιάζει και σχεδιαστικά. Οι δημιουργίες θα εγκατασταθούν σε κεντρικό χώρο που θα μας υποδείξει ο δήμος – δίνοντας εμβληματικό χαρακτήρα και σημασία στο όλο έργο.

September 1 marks the start of a new project for JOIN4CS in collaboration with the Municipality of Kozani entitled “GREENING THE WALLS.” -Greening and upgrading areas of the city with vertical gardens (living walls) using recyclable materials and with the active participation of citizens.

The project is being implemented as part of the “Innovative Actions with Citizens” call for proposals of the Green Fund’s “Natural Environment & Climate Resilience 2025” funding program.

Greening the Walls seeks to “green” and connect the city of Kozani with the industrial character of the region and the transition from traditional energy production, lignite, to green development. At the same time, it will revitalize the areas of the city where it will be implemented, giving a fresh breath of life by adding greenery to a city that needs it.

To achieve this, the project will use former industrial materials and plastic waste and transform them into “living walls,” where plants will be integrated into the overall design. The project is directly linked to the previous award-winning New European Bauhaus (NEB) project “Greenovate,” where some of the materials were used to create urban furniture (planters and benches), but it will also be similar in design. The creations will be installed in a central location to be designated by the municipality, giving the entire project an emblematic character and significance.
